Coeliacbrities

Celebrities- they’re just like us! Minus the private jets, personal chefs, perfume endorsements, ability to actually find something when they Google themselves…. Okay, maybe the rich, famous and beautiful aren’t on the exact same page as us, but if there’s one thing privilege can’t buy it’s resilience to illness. Even shiny-haired starlets, Hollywood leading men and Oscar winners fall victim to conditions like Coeliac disease. Here are some of high profile names who have been diagnosed with Coeliac disease:

Zooey Deschanel

Danni Minogue

Emmy Rossum

Chelsea Clinton

And then we have the gluten intolerant:

Billy Bob Thornton

Juliette Lewis

Rachel Weisz

And those who follow a gluten free diet for the hell of it:

Jennifer Aniston

Gwyneth Paltrow

Victoria Beckham

Admittedly, these gluten free A-listers usually have a team of chefs, dieticians and nutritionists on hand to attend to their dietary needs.  But we believe that having a healthy, balanced diet all comes down to being ingredient savvy- whether you have Coeliac disease, gluten intolerant or are trying to cut down on wheat for weight loss reasons!

  1. It seems that a lot of the actresses who are on these diets are rocking pretty sweet bods… I never knew that gluten and dairy-free diets could result in such beautiful people! As you say though these A-listers would be getting the absolute best in culinary expertise, whereas with regular people like us it might be a bit more difficult. I know my uncle is gluten intolerant and whenever he comes to stay with us basically half of our pantry is off the menu for him, I don’t really envy him at all. Perhaps these celebrities could put out gluten-free diets or something? Would definitely sell well.

  2. Thanks for your comment! Some of these actresses are already making money out of endorsing the gluten free diet, such as Gwyneth Paltrow who promotes it on her website goop.com. Celebrities definatley have a knack for glamourising gluten free eating (particularly with their killer bodies) but as you pointed out in the case of your uncle, it can be quite inconvinient and a lot of hard work in real life.
